About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead a massive, high-stakes rebrand programme. This role demands someone who understands a brand at its deepest level - not just how it looks, but how it is constructed, the systems and patterns that make it work in practice, and how design components fit together across a complex organization with multiple teams and channels.
You will act as the connective tissue between creative leads, the design team, digital operations, and the wider business, ensuring every workstream moves in unison. You must be equally comfortable leading a nuanced brand strategy conversation as you are driving a detailed production planning meeting. Your core mandate will be to earn the trust of designers, directors, and senior business stakeholders while keeping this highly visible programme on track across months of complex, interdependent work.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Leadership: Own the end-to-end rebrand programme as the single point of accountability, from initial brand strategy and identity development through design system build, rollout planning, and full deployment.
- Master Planning: Build and maintain the master programme plan, rigorously mapping all workstreams, dependencies, milestones, and sign-off points.
- Governance & Reporting: Chair workstream reviews, track progress, and produce clear, jargon-free reporting for senior executive stakeholders.
- Brand & Design System Guardianship: Leverage your deep understanding of brand positioning, visual identity, and design systems to critically assess work, ensuring it meets the brief and programme objectives without overstepping into creative decisions.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Translate creative language into business requirements (and vice versa), working closely with the business to understand constraints and bringing them on the creative journey.
- Multi-Workstream Delivery: Manage parallel workstreams simultaneously, including brand identity, digital rollout, customer communications, retail/OOH, and internal launch.
- Vendor & Commercial Management: Brief and hold accountable external agencies, manage the programme budget, track spend, process purchase orders, and flag financial risks early.
- Risk & Quality Control: Maintain a live risk register, implement quality checkpoints, and ensure all outputs meet legal, compliance, and accessibility standards.
What You Will Bring
- 8+ years of senior project or programme management experience, specifically leading brand or creative programmes of significant scale and complexity.
- Deep practical knowledge of how visual identities are created and what robust design systems require to function across large organizations.
- Proven experience managing multi-workstream creative programmes that involve design, digital, copywriting, strategy, and production teams.
- A strong track record of senior stakeholder management in complex, matrixed organizations, operating confidently at the Executive level.
- Solid commercial acumen, including budget ownership, cost tracking, and supplier/agency management.
- The ability to engage meaningfully in detailed creative and brand conversations.
- A degree-level education or equivalent professional experience (a background in brand, design, or marketing is highly advantageous).
- Highly Desirable: Previous experience managing a full brand refresh end-to-end, working knowledge of component libraries, and experience in high-volume, multi-channel categories (e.g., telecoms, tech, or retail).
