Are you an Engineering Degree (or equivalent) holder? Do you have Electrical based experience within a Heavy Manufacturing environment? Are you based in or around Llanelli? We have a permanent Departmental Manager role available within Tata Steel, Trostre works. The department specialises in managing utilities, site infrastructure, and providing electrical engineering support to manufacturing units. This role is ideal for someone with strong IT literacy skills and is proactive, a clear communicator and holds good attention to detail.
Location: TATA Steel, Maes-Ar-Ddafen Road, Llanelli SA14 9SD, United Kingdom
Rate: Competitive and based upon experience
Shift Patterns: Standard day hours with flexibility required for business and operational needs
Start: ASAP (within 1-2 weeks)
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the effective operation of utilities, infrastructure, and site wide electrical engineering resources.
- Implement Management Systems to ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, COMAH, and statutory requirements.
- Provide leadership to site manufacturing support engineering teams, including central electrical, site services, and IT/PC&A groups.
- Monitor and control expenditure on spares, materials, and labor to stay within budget limits.
- Lead, champion, and implement the Management of Change (MoC) process, ensuring changes to plant and processes are risk-assessed.
- Maintain 'Trostre engineering standards' relating to equipment and engineering practices.
- Represent Trostre on UK Engineering committees for Reliability and Sustainability.
Essential requirements:
- Educated to degree level in Engineering or equivalent (e.g., HNC / Diploma in Engineering supported by relevant plant experience).
- Demonstrated experience in heavy manufacturing environments managing site electrical services, High Voltage, and site IT/process control teams.
- Proven knowledge of reliability engineering techniques, failure analysis, and financial control of engineering budgets.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and team management skills under pressure.
Desirable requirements:
- Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards it).
- Professional affiliations/certifications such as IET or NEBOSH.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing methods and design principles.
- Experience with J2R processes to support manufacturing areas in delivering the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
