Are you an experienced educator or specialist looking to empower higher education students in your spare time? Randstad Student Support is recruiting qualified Specialist Study Skills Support Workers to deliver tailored, one-to-one academic support to university and college students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) across Scotland. This hybrid role offers exceptional flexibility, combining online delivery with essential face-to-face sessions on local campuses to suit student needs.
About the Role
As a Specialist Study Skills Support Worker, you will deliver individualised learning support designed to foster confidence and long-term academic independence. You will work with students to:
- Develop Academic Independence: Assist with organisation, time management, and personalised action plans.
- Enhance Learning Strategies: Help students leverage their unique strengths and adapt tailored study methods.
- Strengthen Research & Writing: Guide students in source critical analysis, proper referencing, academic comprehension, and structured writing techniques.
Key Requirements
To provide support funded via SAAS / Disabled Student's Allowance (DSA) in Scotland, candidates must hold an eligible professional membership level with one of the following recognised bodies:
- British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
- Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE)
- Dyslexia Guild
- Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
Note: Roles are strictly compliant with national DSA quality assurance frameworks.
Desirable Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience supporting individuals with SpLDs in an educational setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Strong caseload management, reliability, and commitment to confidentiality.
