Your Role & Responsibilities
As a Specialist Support Worker, you will provide tailored 1:1 guidance to students. Your core responsibilities include:
- Expert Guidance: Apply your in-depth knowledge of how SpLDs affect language and learning to support students in a Higher Education context.
- Strengths-Based Support: Identify individual student strengths and help them utilise these to overcome academic barriers.
- Strategy Development: Assist students in developing personalised strategies for organisation, time management, and academic success.
- Assistive Technology (AT): Provide guidance and support on utilising relevant assistive technology to enhance learning.
What We're Looking For
To excel in this specialist role, we are looking for candidates who possess:
- Qualifications: An Undergraduate Degree (Level 6) or PG qualification.
- Professional Membership: You must hold active membership with a relevant professional body (as listed in our standard compliance framework https://www.practitioners.slc.co.uk/media/1987/final-nmh-qualifications-matrix-july2023.pdf). Ideally PATOSS, BDA or ADSHE memberships
- Expertise: Deep understanding of SpLDs and a commitment to maintaining professional confidentiality and boundaries.
- Skills: Strong organisational skills, reliability, and a passion for supporting students with disabilities.
