We are seeking two experienced, highly resilient SEN Specialist Tutors to work in tandem supporting a Year 11 male pupil with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) characteristics, and speech, language, and communication needs. Due to severe anxiety and a history of failed school placements, learning will begin in the home environment before gradually extending into the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised functional English, Maths, and life skills tuition using low-demand, indirect communication approaches.
- Provide proactive co‑regulation, emotional regulation support, and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
- Monitor and manage Type 1 Diabetes protocols during home sessions (Medical Lead Tutor).
- Utilise online tools such as CENTURY Tech to deliver bite‑sized, low‑pressure diagnostic and learning modules.
- Gradually support transitions into quiet community settings once medical and emotional milestones are met.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Proven specialist experience working with complex SEMH, trauma‑informed care, and PDA characteristics.
- Strong background in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), de‑escalation, and dynamic risk management.
- Competence in delivering functional Key Stage 3/4 English and Maths.
- Willingness and capacity to undergo Type 1 Diabetes management training (Essential for Diabetes Lead Tutor).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high‑synchrony two‑tutor partnership
