QTS GCSE Pathway Specialist Tutor

We are seeking an outstanding QTS / Subject Specialist tutor with secondary GCSE experience to deliver high-impact 1:1 tuition for a Year 11 male student who has been permanently excluded from school. The tutor will deliver GCSE core subjects, re-engage the pupil, and coordinate formal examination arrangements.

Pupil Profile & Key Needs

• Year 11 male student with SEMH needs, previously Looked After Child (LAC), currently living under a Special Guardianship Order (SGO) with grandparents.
• Permanently excluded for persistent disruptive behaviour; disengaged learner with significant academic gaps.
• Academic levels: Maths Grade 4, English Language Grade 2+, English Literature Grade 1, Science Grade 2-2.
• Responds well to interest-led learning (gaming, football, biking) and clear, structured boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 12 hours of weekly face-to-face GCSE tuition in English Language, English Literature, Maths, and Science.
• Facilitate and coordinate formal GCSE examination entries with the Local Authority.
• Utilize CENTURY Tech to run low-pressure diagnostic assessments and deliver 10-15 minute interactive learning nuggets.
• Incorporate Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and restorative practice to manage disruptive behaviour.
• Maintain proactive communication with grandparents (SGO carers) and Local Authority link officers.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or experienced KS4 GCSE Subject Specialist essential.
• Extensive experience working with permanently excluded students, SEMH needs, and disengaged learners.
• Demonstrated mastery in behaviour management, de-escalation, and restorative boundary setting.
• Experience managing GCSE exam processes and post-16 transition planning
