We are currently seeking a dedicated and professional Specialist Mental Health Mentor to join our team in Dundee. In this temporary role, you will provide essential support to individuals navigating mental health challenges, ensuring they have access to the resources and guidance necessary for their personal and academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, one-to-one mentoring support tailored to the specific needs of students or individuals managing mental health conditions.
  • Develop and implement personalised support plans to enhance the individual's coping strategies and resilience.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all support sessions in accordance with quality assurance frameworks (QAF).
  • Collaborate effectively with relevant stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to the individual's well-being.
  • Foster a professional and supportive environment that promotes independence and self-advocacy.

Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualification in mental health, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in providing mental health support or mentoring within a professional or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of mental health conditions and the ability to apply appropriate support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a caseload with precision and care.

Required Professional Membership (Any One)

  • Counselling & Therapy: BACP (Registered/Accredited), BABCP (Full), BPC, NCPS (Accredited), UKCP (Full), COSCA, ISPC, IACP, ACP, or ACC.
  • Psychology: BPS (Chartered/Graduate with PG degree & CPD) or HCPC (Practitioner Psychologist).
  • Nursing & Healthcare: NMC (Mental Health/Psychiatric Nurse), GMC (Psychiatry), or HCPC (Arts/Occupational Therapist).
  • Social Work & Support: Social Worker (SWE / SCW / NISCC) or UMHAN (Accredited Practitioner).
  • Addiction Support: NCAC (Addiction Professionals).
