We are seeking a dedicated and professional Specialist Mentor (ASC) to support students with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) in navigating their academic journey. In this role, you will provide essential one-to-one support, helping students develop effective strategies to manage their studies and thrive in a university environment.
Role Overview

- Contract Type: Temp
- Salary: £28.00 per hour plus £3.38 holiday pay
Responsibilities
- Provide specialised 1:1 mentoring support to students with ASC to address barriers to learning.
- Assist students in developing organisational, time management, and study-related strategies.
- Foster student independence and confidence through structured guidance and professional support.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress in accordance with institutional requirements.
- Collaborate professionally with academic and support staff to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in a related field.
- Proven experience in supporting individuals with ASC, preferably within an educational or university setting.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a focus on empathy, patience, and professional boundaries.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a flexible caseload effectively.
- Commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and student-centred support.
AS Mentoring Requirements:
If you are applying to support AS students, you will need a relevant degree along with either the 6 NAS modules (National Autistic Society) or the Optimum Student Support training course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.
