An exceptional QTS-certified teacher is required to provide integrated 1:1 academic tuition and reintegration mentoring for a Year 9 male student currently out of school due to Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) and severe anxiety. The role combines core subject instruction with dedicated mentoring to facilitate a phased return to school.

Pupil Profile & Key Needs

  • Year 9 male student experiencing severe anxiety, EBSA, suspected ASD/ADHD, low self-confidence, and mental health challenges.
  • High worry about making mistakes; currently working below age-related expectations (Maths 2+, English 2, Science 1).
  • Dislikes traditional Science but responds well to practical, scaffolded learning and interest-led topics (keen football player).
  • Provision starts at Saffron Ferris Library before working towards site visits at William de Ferrers School.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 3 days of face-to-face tuition per week covering KS3 English, Maths, and Science.
  • Deliver 1 day of dedicated mentoring per week focusing on anxiety management, emotional regulation, and building a resilience toolkit.
  • Integrate the CENTURY Tech AI platform for low-stakes diagnostic assessments and bite-sized "nugget" learning modules.
  • Implement structured reintegration tools (Readiness to Return Checklist, Care Plans) and liaise with school link staff.
  • Support gentle transitions to school spaces outside core operating hours.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) essential (Science or core subject background advantageous).
  • Proven track record supporting students with EBSA, anxiety, suspected ASD/ADHD, and low academic confidence.
  • Ability to manage dual academic and mentoring/reintegration requirements seamlessly.
  • Patient, relationship-based pedagogical approach with strong de-escalation and co-regulation skills.
