University of Essex – Part Time Study Skills Tutor (ASC)

£28 per hour plus holiday pay

Randstad Student Support is seeking a skilled and compassionate Study Skills Tutor to work with autistic students at the University of Essex. This part-time, hybrid role offers the flexibility to work both on-campus and online, tailoring support to meet individual student needs. Are you ready to make a real difference?

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to identify and build on students\’ learning strengths
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in creating individual learning plans
• Experience with various research methods and referencing styles
• Ability to foster independence and self-advocacy in students
• Experience managing a caseload of students

Qualifications

This specialist role requires a strong academic background and relevant training in supporting autistic adults. To meet the requirements of the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), candidates must:

• Hold a minimum of an undergraduate degree (Level 6)
• Possess a teaching qualification
• Have completed extensive training in adult autism, such as:

• 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non-medical helper package), or
• The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.
