We are looking for qualified specialists to support university students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). Your Specialist Role Key Impact:
- Provide vital academic guidance and create individual learning plans tailored to student needs.
- Foster independent learning by supporting students to:
- Develop independence and build on their learning strengths.
- Create essential strategies for organisation and time management.
- Formulate action plans to successfully stay on track with studies.
- Build on crucial research skills, including widening knowledge, distinguishing appropriate sources, and correctly using references.
- Enhance reading and writing comprehension skills.
You are expected to act professionally, maintain confidentiality, and address any student concerns in a timely manner.
Mandatory Qualification Requirements:
This is a specialist, Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) funded role. Candidates must adhere strictly to the qualification framework set out by the Department for Education (DfE). You MUST possess the below qualifications as a minimum:
- An Undergraduate Degree (Level 6 minimum) along with a Professional Membership.
Desirable skills include:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
- Punctuality and reliability
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to manage a caseload of students
