Are you a qualified Secondary MFL teacher with a specialised background in German? Do you have a passion for educational technology, language pedagogy, and safeguarding?

We are looking for experienced German educators to join a vital national project.

You will play a key role in building the benchmarks that ensure AI tutoring tools are safe, linguistically accurate, and pedagogically sound for students across the UK.

About the Role

This is a highly flexible, fully remote role running until 30th September 2026, requiring approximately 5-10 hours per week.

Using your subject expertise, you will evaluate AI systems, create language-learning scenarios, and set the standards by which AI modern foreign language tools are measured.

Your day-to-day will involve designing realistic student-teacher dialogues (covering German sentence structure, cases, verb placement, and vocabulary acquisition), developing benchmarking criteria to test the accuracy of AI translations and conversational syntax, scoring AI responses, and building rubrics to evaluate how effectively the AI guides a learner through target language practice.

  • Pay Rate: £20 - £30 per hour
  • Location: Fully Remote (UK)
  • Hours: 5-10 hours per week (Flexible)
  • Key Requirements

Mandatory

  • Secondary Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with verified experience teaching German in English schools (references required).
  • Specific experience teaching Year 9 German.
  • Comfortable using web-based platforms, working with German character sets (umlauts/Eszett), and adapting to new software.
  • Your own laptop and a reliable internet connection.

Highly Valued (But Not Required)

  • Safeguarding

Expertise: Designated Safeguarding experience (e. g., current/former DSL or Deputy DSL, or Level 3+ safeguarding training with practical child protection responsibilities).

  • SEND Experience: SENCO experience, working in a specialist school, or holding a recognised Level 3+ SEND qualification.

Desirable (But Not Required)

  • 2+ years of experience delivering approved MFL teacher training (ITT, NPQs, ECF, etc.).
  • 1+ years of 1:1 German tutoring experience with Year 9 students.
