Building a Bridge to the Future

Many young people today feel forgotten by the traditional education system. As a Youth Engagement Mentor, you aren't just a tutor; you will work one-on-one with students who are persistently absent or excluded from school, including those with SEND, SEMH challenges, or complex barriers to learning.

Your mission is to build a "re-engagement bridge," guiding students from total isolation back into a stable learning environment, college, or vocational pathway.

Stability, Skill-building, and Advocacy.

  • Relationship Building & Wellbeing: Meet the young person where they are - sometimes literally at their front door - to build trust.
  • Collaboration & Advocacy: Act as the "voice of the child" in multi-agency meetings with Social Care and CAMHS. Many of these young people have been told they are 'failures' by the system. It's to prove to them that they are capable of success, regardless of what a traditional school setting says.
