The Opportunity

Are you an experienced technical leader who excels at driving client partnerships, commercial growth, and engineering excellence across high-profile commercial property? We are seeking a Technical Account Manager to join a privately owned, independent building services specialist renowned for maintaining some of Central London's most prestigious corporate landmarks. Built on a reputation for technical craftsmanship, "showroom-standard" plant rooms, and authentic client diplomacy, our business puts engineering authority at the heart of contract delivery. This role is ideal for a polished building services manager who wants to bridge the gap between complex MEP operations and strategic account management-taking ownership of client relationships, technical compliance, team leadership, and account growth without getting bogged down in corporate bureaucracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship & Strategic Partnership
    • Trusted Client Ambassador: Serve as the primary, daily point of contact for Landlord Asset Managers, Managing Agents, and C-suite corporate tenant representatives.
    • Executive Reporting: Lead formal monthly and quarterly account reviews, presenting transparent reporting on SLA/KPI achievement, statutory compliance metrics, energy insights, and operational milestones.
    • Consultative Communication: Translate complex M&E operational data and technical challenges into clear, actionable executive updates for non-technical client stakeholders.
  • Technical Authority & Operational Governance
    • Technical Escalation: Act as a senior technical authority for on-site resident teams across complex MEP infrastructure, including HV/LV power distribution, critical HVAC networks, centralized chillers, steam/gas plant, and smart BMS systems.
    • Showroom Standards: Champion an "engineering-first" ethos, auditing site standards to ensure all plant rooms, workshops, and critical infrastructure spaces remain immaculate and showcase-ready.
    • Incident Governance: Oversee technical incident escalation, ensuring rapid recovery procedures are executed safely during critical plant failures and delivering robust root-cause analyses to clients.
  • Account Growth & Lifecycle Projects
    • Commercial Scoping: Proactively identify asset deficiencies, lifecycle risks, and decarbonisation opportunities across the account.
    • Extra Works & Proposals: Draft clear technical specifications and commercial proposals for capital upgrades, energy-optimisation projects, and remedial works to expand account revenue.
  • Statutory Compliance & Safe Systems of Work
    • Zero-Failure Compliance: Guarantee 100% statutory compliance across all M&E, water hygiene, and life-safety systems, maintaining pristine physical and digital logbooks (ACoP L8, PSSR, Gas Safety, Fire Life Safety).
    • Safety Leadership: Govern site-specific Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), reviewing high-risk RAMS and enforcing strict Permit to Work protocols across internal teams and specialist subcontractors.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrable experience operating as a Technical Account Manager, Technical Contract Manager, or Senior Account Manager within a high-spec Central London commercial landmark or Landlord & Tenant portfolio.
  • Client-Facing Polish: Outstanding communication and presentation skills with a consultative approach suitable for interacting with senior landlord executives and corporate occupiers.
  • Technical Foundation: Minimum Level 3 (or equivalent) in an Electrical or Building Services Engineering discipline (HNC/HND or BEng is highly advantageous).
  • Regulations & Safety: 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and IOSH Managing Safely (or NEBOSH General Certificate).
  • Compliance IQ: Deep practical knowledge of statutory health & safety legislation and SFG20 maintenance standards.

What We Offer

  • Funded Upskilling: Fully funded access to advanced technical certifications (including HVAP status) and leadership/management training.
  • Engineering-First Culture: A supportive, agile working environment that values professional engineering pride, quality workmanship, and genuine client partnership over excessive administrative red tape.

If you are a client-focused engineering leader looking to take ownership of iconic London commercial assets, apply today for a confidential discussion.
