The Role
As a Classroom Support Assistant, you'll embark on a rewarding journey, learning from experienced professionals and directly contributing to the delivery of high-quality education to our students. This is an incredible opportunity for someone looking to build a career in SEN education, with a particular focus on applied behaviour analysis (ABA). Working under the guidance of Qualified Teachers and our specialist team, you will:
- Provide direct one-to-one and small group support to students in the classroom.
- Assist in implementing individualised learning programmes and behaviour support plans.
- Help students achieve their academic, social, and communication goals.
- Support the implementation of strategies based on Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles to teach new skills and reduce challenging behaviours.
- Contribute to the use of Comprehensive Application of Behaviour Analysis to Schooling (CABAS) teaching methodologies, ensuring data collection and progress monitoring.
- Help create a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
- Participate in regular training and professional development sessions.
- Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning materials.
What we are looking for
- A minimum of 6 months' experience working with individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally within a school or educational setting.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential due to our location and the need to support potential off-site activities.
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people with autism.
- An understanding of, or a strong willingness to learn, about Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and CABAS teaching methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
