Reporting To: Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager
Role Overview: Drive commercial leadership, financial control, and risk management across key civil engineering projects in Manchester. In this role, you will lead cost governance, maximize commercial opportunities, and ensure robust contractual compliance from procurement through to final account settlement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Control & Reporting: Deliver accurate CVRs, cash flow forecasting, cost plans, and payment applications to optimize margins and cash flow.
- Contract Administration: Manage main contracts and subcontracts - primarily NEC and IChemE forms - ensuring strict compliance and proactive risk mitigation.
- Procurement & Supply Chain: Oversee subcontract tendering, negotiations, account management, and final settlements while nurturing key industry relationships.
- Leadership & Advisory: Guide operational teams on commercial best practices, mentor junior commercial staff, and optimize inter-company trading across group entities.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Strong commercial management background within the construction and civil engineering sectors.
- Contract Knowledge: Proven expertise in NEC and/or IChemE forms of contract alongside a practical understanding of Construction Law.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with monthly CVRs, forecasting, subcontractor procurement, and Microsoft Office.
- Qualifications (Desirable): Degree/HND in Quantity Surveying, RICS membership (or working towards), and a valid CSCS card.
