The Opportunity: Build Something Extraordinary
Are you ready to move beyond the traditional classroom? We are seeking visionary educators to join the founding team of a brand-new, state-of-the-art special school scheduled to open in late 2026. This is a rare "blank canvas" opportunity. You won’t just be following a policy; you will be helping to write it. Our mission is to support 72 children and young people (ages 5‑19) who have faced challenges in mainstream settings due to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and ASC.
The Role
As a founding Teacher, you will be the architect of a safe, high‑aspiration learning environment. Whether your background is Primary or Secondary, you will:
- Innovate: Design and deliver a thematic, highly differentiated curriculum that prioritises engagement over "compliance."
- Collaborate: Work hand‑in‑hand with a multi‑disciplinary team of therapists and specialists to support the "whole child."
- Lead: Take ownership of a specific curriculum area, mentoring support staff and shaping the school's academic direction.
- Transform: Turn "complex presentations" into success stories by building deep, empathetic relationships.
Who You Are
We are looking for a resilient, creative, and "people‑first" educator who meets the following:
Essential Criteria
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is non‑negotiable.
- A proven track record in Special Schools or specialist SEMH provisions.
- Expertise in thematic teaching—the ability to weave core skills through engaging, real‑world topics.
- A sophisticated understanding of ASC and SEMH, including trauma‑informed approaches and de‑escalation techniques.
Desirable Attributes
- Post‑graduate qualifications in SEND/Special Education.
- Experience in curriculum design for learners with complex needs.
- A "founding mindset"—adaptability, humour, and the drive to help a new school succeed.
Ready to make a visible impact? If you are passionate about changing the trajectory of young lives, we want to hear from you.
