The Role
As the Head of Performing Arts, you will be the driving force behind our creative curriculum and extra-curricular showcase. You will lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality teaching, manage transformative change, and ensure that every student—regardless of their starting point—discovers the magic of performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visionary Leadership: Directing high-caliber performances and managing the department with a focus on raising achievement and "value-added" results.
- Excellence in Teaching: Delivering "Good" or "Outstanding" GCSE lessons and mentoring staff to do the same.
- Strategic Management: Using data and educational insight to raise standards and prioritize student outcomes.
- Community & Production: Liaising with external stakeholders and using specialist technology to produce professional-grade school productions.
About You
You are an experienced educator with a proven track record of success. You understand that performing arts is a vital vehicle for inclusion and diversity, and you have the "presence" to command a room and inspire a faculty.
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications: Degree level education (or equivalent) with QTS.
- Experience: Successful track record of teaching GCSE and evidence of raising student achievement. (Please note: This role is not suitable for ECTs).
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of the National Curriculum, current educational thinking, and technical performance resources.
- Leadership: Experience in managing change and the ability to motivate others to meet high expectations.
- Communication: Exceptional IT literacy and the ability to build mutually supportive relationships with colleagues, parents, and students.
