Randstad is delighted to be partnering with a leading independent school specialising in supporting students with autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in empowering students with autism and SEMH to access their education and achieve their full potential. You'll work closely with teachers and the wider support team to create an inclusive and effective learning experience.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with autism and SEMH during lessons and activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualised learning plans (ILPs), adapting materials and strategies to meet diverse needs.
  • Support students with their social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and self-regulation.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, the pastoral team, and the family liaison team to ensure holistic student support.
  • Help maintain accurate records of student progress and contributions to assessments.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Participate in school events and initiatives to foster a strong school community.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has:

  • Proven experience working with children or young people, particularly those with autism and/or SEMH needs (minimum 6 months).
  • A passion for making learning engaging and accessible for all students, especially those with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • An understanding of differentiated instruction and individualised learning plans (ILPs) is desirable.
  • Experience using a range of support methods to track student progress is a plus.
