An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational and dedicated Head of History to join a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in the heart of Croydon. This is a permanent, full-time position commencing in September 2025.

About the Role:
As Head of History, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the History department, ensuring the continued delivery of an engaging and challenging curriculum from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. You will lead a team of passionate history teachers, driving standards and fostering a love of the subject among students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing a clear vision and strategic direction for the History department.
- Leading, managing, and developing a team of dedicated history teachers.
- Overseeing the planning, delivery, and assessment of the history curriculum to ensure excellent student progress.
- Inspiring a love of history in students through innovative teaching methods and extracurricular activities.
- Monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and learning within the department.
- Contributing to the wider life of the school and its positive community ethos.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A degree in History or a related subject.
- A proven track record of successful history teaching at secondary level.
- Experience in a leadership or management role within a history department is desirable.
- A passion for history and a commitment to academic excellence.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- The ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
