A specialised SEN school is looking for a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work with students aged 6-25. The children and adults have a range of special needs including Autism, Epilepsy and other neurological conditions. You will be helping students access an interactive and practical curriculum whilst aiding them with personal care when needed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting students during class by tracking their progress
  • Liaising with class teacher to ensure lessons run smoothly
  • Enabling learners to access the curriculum
  • Supporting the pastoral needs of the learners
  • Being an active part in creating a positive learning environment
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and as part of a small group in a range of activities throughout the day
  • Using your interests to engage learners in learning
  • Supporting with the students' personal care

Key skills and experience needed:

  • Experience working with people with special needs
  • The ability to work with learners that have various learning difficulties including epilepsy and autism
  • An understanding of students with emotional needs
  • A willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
  • The ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
  • Flexibility in your approach to education
