  • Relevant Experience: Prior experience supporting young people within an educational or mentorship capacity.
  • Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
  • SEND Awareness: A solid baseline understanding of neurodiversity, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and SEMH needs.
  • Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full‑time in the UK.

  • Behaviour Management: Implementing positive reinforcement strategies to keep study environments productive.
  • Literacy & Numeracy Competency: High‑level academic proficiency to assist with complex essay structuring and data analysis.
  • Time Management: Balancing support schedules across multiple students and subjects effectively throughout the school day.

Core Responsibilities

  • In‑Class Target Support: Delivering direct, focused assistance to individuals or small groups during advanced level lessons.
  • EHCP Implementation: Executing specific strategies outlined in students' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Resource Adaptation: Modifying complex learning materials and curriculum tasks into accessible, digestible formats.
  • Progress Tracking: Documenting student interventions, milestones, and setbacks, and reporting them regularly to the SENDCo.
  • Exam Access Arrangements: Acting as a reader, scribe, or prompt for eligible students during official assessments and mocks.
  • Independent Skill Fostering: Encouraging students to develop autonomous study habits, note‑taking skills, and revision schedules.
  • Pastoral Mentorship: Providing a safe space for students to discuss academic anxieties, helping them build long‑term resilience.
  • Staff Liaison: Meeting regularly with subject teachers to feedback on student comprehension and discuss upcoming lesson goals.
  • Environment Maintenance: Ensuring the learning support hub remains an organised, welcoming, and inclusive space.
