Our Team
As a rapidly growing area in the company, our ‘New Business Unit’ offers significant personal and career development opportunities through involvement on a variety of nuclear projects spanning UK decommissioning, Small Modular Reactors and various aspects of Submarine programmes including Naval Facilities.
The New Business Unit is expanding further within our market and client diversification, so there are additional opportunities for engineer to gain functional safety experience in sectors such as Automotive, Oil and Gas, and Medical.
The Role
Ebeni are looking to recruit several bright, dynamic and energetic Nuclear Safety Engineers who can provide safety, risk and licensing support. The role provides opportunities to manage and contribute to naval and civil nuclear programmes in several key areas; ranging from system specialisms to operations, decommissioning and all aspects of safety case authorship, development, assessment, independent peer review management, reporting and certification. You will:
- Lead tasks and manage smaller projects while undertaking safety engineering activities as defined by Project Safety Plans and in compliance with the principles identified in Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Perform hazard analysis to define safety requirements and detailed systems review, to demonstrate that safety requirements can be met.
- Develop safety arguments and draft safety cases to support assurance and certification activities, including identification of appropriate evidence to show safety arguments are reasonable, well-constructed and justified.
- Conduct Independent Peer and Periodic Safety Reviews for Nuclear Site Licensees and/or Design Authorities.
- Provide licensing support in relation to civil and defence nuclear regulations including Safety Assessment Principles (SAP’s) and Security Assessment Principles (SyAP’s).
- Undertake safety assessment via application of appropriate regulatory requirements, legislation, tools and techniques.
- Liaise with system developers, certification bodies, Operators, Operational Engineering, Systems Engineering and Facilities Management as necessary, regarding safety.

Skills & Experience
We want engineers with experience of safety and risk experience, a significant element of which must be in either the civil or naval nuclear markets. You will have gained exposure to some of the below skills & experience:
- Nuclear Safety domain experience with one of the following;
Naval Nuclear (submarine systems and /or facilities), Nuclear Decommissioning, Nuclear Power Station New Build - Demonstrable experience of the application of safety and risk engineering processes to identify hazards and vulnerabilities, author safety cases and justifications, assess risk and implement controls to reduce risk to an acceptable level.
- Ability to build effective and strong working relationships with clients and colleagues. To work effectively, professionally and proactively with people, in face-to-face meetings and through interaction by video calls, telephone and email.
- A desire to strive for the highest quality standards with focus on delivery and excelling expectations.
- Able to communicate across all levels of the company. Are articulate with an ability to negotiate, persuade and listen.
- A team player willing to support the next stage of development of the New Business Unit in a constructive, positive way.
