Hours: Monday-Thursday (37 Hours). The successful candidate will need to be flexible with shift times should future requirements change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair issues in electrical, control, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Implement and adhere to a planned preventative maintenance schedule to ensure optimal equipment performance maintaining high levels of equipment availability to meet the needs of internal customers.
- React swiftly to breakdowns, coordinating and communicating effectively with local leadership and affected parties to minimise downtime.
- Work closely with the Production and Engineering Departments to ensure equipment availability and operational efficiency.
- Follow and enforce safe working practices, create and adhere to Risk Assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
- Investigate machine-related quality issues methodically and systematically to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Utilise mobile devices to manage and track assigned work orders efficiently.
- Verbally report and document daily issues for effective handover and continuity of operations.
- Support development of other team members.
- Work alongside sub-contractors to deliver safe, compliant and effective TPM and reactive support.
- Ensure all work areas are clean and organised by consistently applying 5S principles.
- Manage and optimise the spare parts inventory to ensure efficient and effective stock levels.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience on electrical installations and appropriate troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in fault finding and diagnostics of PLC systems.
- Experience of hydraulic and pneumatic machine control systems and factory infrastructure.
- Experience with mechanical aspects of machinery and equipment such as actuators, valves, pumps and heat transfer equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, electronic, fluid system, and mechanical drawings accurately.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills and Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 or Time-served Apprentice in Maintenance Engineering, or technical certification in an Engineering/Electrical discipline preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with forklifts (FLT) and Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) is preferred. Possession of recognised licenses is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in welding and fabrication.
- Knowledge of Engine testing is advantageous.
