Randstad Professionals is the group's division specialized in the recruitment of candidates for Middle & Senior Management positions. Our Customer is a major European operator in the electricity market with nearly eighty years of history. The company is a leader in wind and solar power and is strongly growing in the renewables sector.
The Technical Operations Manager will report directly to the Head of Generation UK and spends a large portion of time on site, managing all technical and site-related activities efficiently and effectively according to the established standards/processes for operational assets across the UK.
Areas of responsibility:
- Drive the integration of new assets (currently onshore wind) into the operational phase.
- Perform site inspections and turbine walkdowns in the agreed frequency, and carry out site specific tasks in line with local requirements.
- Manage all contracts connected to the operational assets and ensure compliance with all deliverables affecting the safety and technical site performance.
- Ensure and continuously track performance of assets using different software/data portals.
- Analyse technical issues/faults and evaluate possible opportunities for cost reduction and/or performance improvements.
- Understand the grid compliance code and manage any requirements and improvements from the distribution/transmission network operators related to the local grid market.
- Manage the operational assets in line with Global EHS&Q guidelines as well as in accordance with local HSEQ legislation.
- Continuously monitor operating costs to ensure budget compliance; in particular, process and verify invoices relating to the asset contracts, in coordination with the UK Commercial Contracts Manager.
- Support in annual budget preparation, support in tender management/contract negotiation.
Requirements:
- Studies: Engineering, Renewable Energies, Project Management.
- Experience in a technical role within the wind onshore industry.
- Essential Training: Valid medical assessment (GWO approved), WTSR awareness certification.
- Understanding of HSE UK legislation relevant for the renewable energy sector.
- Hands-on experience in operations management and coordination of contractors working on the assets.
- Good knowledge of SCADA software, CMS, Power BI, third-party monitoring/data performance platforms, and SAP.
- Availability to carry out works as and when required by the operational assets (flexibility in working time/days in special occasions, such as Christmas/NYE period).
- Flexible mind, adaptability and willingness to embrace different approaches and support international teams.
Contract: Permanent Contract
Work Location: Londonderry, Northern Ireland (UK). Hybrid working (desktop/home working and site-based activities). Monthly travel to the HQ in Edinburgh for regular alignments with the teams. As and when required, travel to other office locations.
