Trainee Welders Are you looking for world-class training? Due to funding, you must be 19 or older on or before 31st August 2025, you must currently live in the County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland catchment area to qualify for the funding. Caterpillar Peterlee is the worldwide source of Cat® Articulated Trucks, currently producing 7 variants used in many industries including mining, construction and aggregates. The facility's manufacturing activities use the latest computer analysis techniques, robotic technology and a state-of-the-art paint plant. We are looking to place, train and develop trainee welders. The successful candidates will be trained to meet the facilities specific welding needs. Previous experience in a welding environment would be an advantage. Benefits: 28 days holiday Monthly bonus Temp worker Benefit App Regular performance review Full induction and ongoing training Auto Pension scheme enrolmentPay Rate and Working Hours: Pay rate will be £10.85 PER HOUR – £12.71 PER HOUR (depending on age) during initial 8 weeks training, then £16.22 PER HOUR with a further increase to £19.55 PER HOUR after 12 months. Initially working day shift for the first 8 weeks – 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 – 12:30 Friday (36.5 hours per week)After training there is a 3 shift pattern, Days, Backs and Nights as follows; Days 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 – 12:30 Friday Backs 16:00 – 00:00 Monday to Thursday, 12:30 – 17:00 Friday Nights 00:00 – 08:00 Monday to Thursday, 17:00 – 21:30 FridayResponsibilities: Intensive training in Welding theory and the practical welding process for 8 weeks at East Durham College before being slowly introduced into the Operations environment in the Peterlee facility. This will be supervised by an appointed Weld Training Specialist. You will be training for 36.5 hours per week day shift only. Training on the basic fundamentals and required aspects of welding in line with People, Quality, Velocity and Cost.
