Role purpose:
This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical systems, machinery, and production equipment to ensure optimal plant operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to lead and mentor junior mechanics.
Key accountabilities:
- Perform advanced mechanical maintenance and repair work on production and facility equipment, including conveyors, hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and pumps.
- Diagnose mechanical failures and recommend and implement solutions to reduce downtime.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts during equipment breakdowns and assist with root cause analysis.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation of repairs using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Collaborate with engineers, machine operators, and electricians to support production needs.
- Train, coach, and oversee junior mechanics and maintenance technicians.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, regulations, and company policies.
- Recommend improvements to increase equipment efficiency and reliability.
- Participate in equipment installation and commissioning when needed.
Key requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification in mechanical or industrial maintenance preferred.
- Certification in areas such as hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, or machine alignment is a plus.
- Proven experience with a variety of machinery including pumps, motors, valves, bearings, and conveyor systems.
- Experience using diagnostic tools, machining equipment, and hand/power tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
