Job Description: The Commercial Cost Modeller role involves analysing, developing, and challenging commercial data and models to uncover and utilise valuable information for evidence-based decision-making. The Commercial Cost Modeller will assist clients in analysing key commercial data and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency in their current models. Additionally, the role requires supporting engagement teams by reviewing and evaluating client, supplier, and market data, as well as developing and assessing complex cost models.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Modelling: Analysing and challenging client/supplier cost models, and creating 'should cost' and Cost Transformation models to identify and drive efficiency opportunities. This includes cost analysis and assessing cost drivers such as labour rates, indirect/direct costs, and inflation.
- Performance/Incentive Modelling: Analysing how the financial and performance incentives of a contract (e.g. pain/gain share, KPIs) could influence supplier behaviour.
- Support for Client Negotiations: Identifying variances in should cost and supplier proposals to develop negotiation strategies and align costs with contractual terms.
- Support for Business Case Development: Utilising should cost modelling outputs to generate a range of costs for approval.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience as a Commercial Analyst, Cost Modeller, Cost Engineer, or Management Accountant in a corporate setting.
- Proficiency and/or certifications in data models and reporting tools (ideally Excel, Power BI, Alteryx).
- Ability to analyse large datasets.
- Commercial awareness and strong cost modelling skills.
- Ability to write comprehensive reports and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Candidates must have valid Security Clearance or be willing and eligible to obtain it.
- Experience in developing a modelling capability within a broader portfolio of commercial managed services, including team building and business development.
