We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical background to join our manufacturing facility in Worcester. In this role, you will be the backbone of our production efficiency, ensuring the smooth operation and repair of plastic injection moulding machinery.

Beyond technical expertise, this role offers a unique opportunity for leadership and development. You will play a pivotal role in mentoring an apprentice engineer, guiding the next generation of talent while driving continuous improvement across the site through structured reporting and proactive maintenance strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine and reactive maintenance on injection moulding machines and auxiliary kit (chillers, robots, granulators, and compressors).
  • Electrical Expertise: Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues, including PLC control systems and electronic subsystems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement equipment upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Mentorship: Oversee the training and professional growth of a dedicated apprentice engineer.
  • Accountability & Reporting: Provide daily activity reports and weekly progress updates on improvement projects to ensure transparency and operational excellence.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to safety standards, conducting risk assessments for all maintenance activities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Proven background maintaining plastic injection moulding machinery or similar high-speed industrial equipment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in electrical systems and PLC troubleshooting/programming.
  • Education: Minimum Level 3 Engineering qualification (Electrical or Mechatronics).
  • Digital Literacy: Proficient in using CMMS or similar digital tools for maintenance logging and reporting.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and the communication skills required to lead and mentor junior staff.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with mechanical systems is advantageous.
