We are thrilled to partner with a large global manufacturer at the forefront of sustainable engineering to find a skilled Engine Test Technician. Based at their state‑of‑the‑art Research & Development Centre in Peterborough, this is a chance to work within a culture of autonomy and excellence, helping to develop the next generation of power solutions.

Location: Peterborough

Contract: 12‑month contract

Pay Rate: £17.00 - £18.90 per hour

Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Mon-Thu: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Fri: 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Operating test equipment and conducting investigations to obtain, analyse, and summarise critical data.
  • Recording results through curves, charts, and sketches for inclusion in technical reports.
  • Working directly with components and test rigs, including the use of hand/power tools and lifting equipment.
  • Adhering to strict health and safety policies and maintaining a clean work area in line with 5S and TPM standards.
  • Assisting with technical investigations for both current and future green energy product solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Background in fuel injection departments and engine component testing.
  • Proficiency in laying strain gauges, soldering electronic components, instrumentation setup, and basic data capture.
  • Experience with ultrasonic bolt monitoring and slip torque testing.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when following complex written instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively liaise across various levels of the organisation.
  • Competence in MS Office packages.
  • An engineering or motor mechanics apprenticeship is highly desirable.
