We are looking for a skilled Powertrain Test & Validation Engineer to act as the vital link between design and reality. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across high-spec industry and academic test facilities, combining hands-on technical execution with high-level data analysis.
The Role at a Glance
- Location: Dual-site support (Stamford & University of Nottingham test facilities)
- Duration: Initial 12 months (potential for extension)
- Working Pattern: Hybrid – up to 5 days on-site during active test periods
- PAYE Rate: £16.41 – £28.21 per hour (DOE)
Your Impact
As the key interface between the design team and the test facility, you will ensure the seamless validation of Electrical Powertrain systems (PE + MG). Your day-to-day will involve:
- Test Management: Leading daily test cell activities, including setup, instrumentation, and execution of complex test requests.
- Problem Solving: Investigating system failures, identifying root causes through Fault Tree Analysis, and owning resolutions to closure.
- Data Analysis: Closing the loop between simulation and physical results using MATLAB and Ansys.
- Collaboration: Working closely with design teams to define validation requirements and managing spare parts/hardware readiness.
- Reporting: Generating high-quality technical reports and presentations for key stakeholders.
What You Bring
Education & Experience:
- Degree: Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Expertise: Proven experience in a powertrain or electrical testing environment (PE + MG experience is strongly preferred).
- Technical Skill: Hands-on experience with component validation, failure analysis, and data acquisition systems.
- Industry: Background in Automotive or Heavy-Duty industries is a plus.
Software Proficiency:
- Required: Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preferred: MATLAB / Simulink, Ansys, and PCAN (or equivalent CAN tools).
