Are you a skilled engineer looking for a dynamic role in the rental energy sector? We are seeking a proactive Service & Maintenance Engineer (Level 2) to join our Power Rental team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality electric power projects across the UK and Ireland.
The Role
As an Individual Contributor within our Operations department, you will ensure our rental equipment—including generators, load-banks, and transformers—in peak condition to support our diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Inspection (20%): Inspect, service, and maintain rental equipment (generators, fuel tanks, load-banks, etc.) according to strict schedules.
- Site Leadership (20%): Lead site installations, commissioning, and decommissioning of rental solutions, including the synchronisation of multiple generators.
- Technical Support (25%): Perform in-depth repairs and troubleshoot complex technical problems efficiently and safely.
- Solution Setup (15%): Configure equipment according to customer requirements and technical project drawings.
- Compliance & Logistics (20%): Manage 'ready to rent' and return processes using digital inspection applications, and assist with inbound and outbound logistics.
What We Are Looking For
We need a resourceful engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, self-directed environment.
Education & Experience:
- Apprenticeship trained with an NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical or Electronic) or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in the Rental energy sector or a similar field.
- Proven hands-on experience in maintenance, diagnostics, and investigating mechanical/electrical faults.
- A valid Driver's License is essential.
- Safe pass (ROI) or CSCS (UK) required; offshore certifications are a plus.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Expertise in Load bank processes, including setup and testing.
- Ability to mentor team members and sub-contractors.
- Excellent understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
Working Conditions
Flexibility is key: This role operates on a 24/7 on-call rota, often at short notice. Travel: You must be willing to work away from your home depot and stay overnight approximately 50% of the time. Offshore: You may be required to work offshore up to 20% of the time.
