We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team in Peterborough. This unique, hybrid role combines operational management (70-80%) with hands-on technical exposure (20-30%), offering a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of site processes while developing your technical maintenance skill set.

You will take end-to-end ownership of our compressed gas supply and management, ensuring smooth operations, compliance, and stock availability, while also supporting equipment maintenance and calibration alongside our engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gas Systems & Stock Management: Take ownership of ordering, certification auditing, inventory control, and physical handling/setup of compressed gas systems.
  • Supplier Coordination: Liaise with suppliers to manage stock flow, maintain compliant documentation, and resolve operational supply issues.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Maintain strict safety and certification standards to support seamless operational continuity.
  • Technical Maintenance & Calibration: Assist with total preventative maintenance (TPM), equipment servicing, diagnostic investigations, and first-line breakdown cover on analytical equipment.
  • Team Operations: Serve as a key operational anchor, supporting the wider team and ensuring continuous facility uptime.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Education/Qualifications: Level 3 Apprenticeship (electro-mechanical, engineering, science, or similar technical discipline) or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
  • Stock & Inventory Control: Proven experience in stock control or inventory management, ideally with regulated materials or pressurised gases.
  • Supplier Interaction: Experience with ordering processes, supplier communication, and maintaining compliance documentation.
  • Technical Mindset: Ability to read technical drawings/schematics, follow written instructions, and apply basic root-cause analysis.
  • Software Competency: Comfort using inventory/procurement systems and standard tools like MS Excel.
