Salary: £93-£100 per day (Initial 12-week placement) | £22,000-£23,500 per annum (Permanent)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM - 3:30 PM

About the Setting: This specialist alternative provision centre in Worthing provides a caring, positive, and inclusive environment for primary and secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The setting focuses on helping students re-engage with education through a highly personalised curriculum designed to challenge, inspire, and rebuild self-esteem. By maintaining small class sizes and prioritising emotional well-being, the collaborative staff team works together to help young people build resilience, gain qualifications, and work toward positive futures. Following a successful 12-week temporary placement, you will transfer directly onto the permanent staff team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pupil Support: Assist students with complex SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions and develop positive learning behaviours.
  • Classroom Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff to deliver structured support, adapt to individual learning styles, and maintain engagement in lessons and daily routines.
  • Mentorship: Act as a consistent, positive role model for vulnerable learners to promote re-engagement.
  • Relationship Building: Establish strong, trusting connections with pupils to promote their emotional well-being, confidence, and academic progress.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience: Prior experience working with children or young people within education, care, alternative provision, youth work, or a similar environment.
  • Qualifications: GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent) are required.
