Your Role as a Supply Teaching Assistant
Working standard school hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, you will support primary school pupils across Okehampton and surrounding areas with their academic and social development.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
- Working 1-on-1 or in small groups with pupils who need extra support in reading, writing, and maths.
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for children from Reception to Year 6.
- Adapting quickly to different school environments and team dynamics.
Requirements
- You do not need a formal teaching qualification to apply, but experience working with young people is essential.
- Proven experience working with children or young people (e.g., in youth clubs, sports coaching, nurseries, care or volunteering).
- Ability to commit to the 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM schedule.
- Excellent communication, patience, reliability, and a proactive 'can-do' attitude.
- Must hold an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to process a new one through Randstad.
