Are you an inspiring SEN Teacher with the pedagogical skill to adapt complex learning for unique minds? Can you lead a classroom with a perfect balance of structured academic ambition, sensory awareness, and unconditional positive regard? If you are looking for a full-time, long-term role starting this upcoming academic year and a world-class multidisciplinary team, we want to hear from you.

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Qualified SEN Teacher (QTS) to join our partner SEN School based in Watford for a permanent or long-term placement starting in September 2026. This dedicated school supports pupils with a diverse range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. We are looking for an educational leader who sees past diagnoses, designs highly personalised learning pathways, and fosters an environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

Your Responsibilities

  • Bespoke Curriculum Design: Plan, differentiate, and deliver high-impact lessons tailored to the specific learning paces and complex needs of your pupils, aligning strictly with their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Communication & Sensory Integration: Seamlessly incorporate functional communication aids (such as Makaton, PECS, or high-tech AAC devices) and sensory strategies into your daily teaching.
  • Classroom Team Leadership: Direct, inspire, and manage a dedicated team of specialist Teaching Assistants within your room, ensuring a coordinated, safe, and positive approach to learning and behaviour support.
  • Holistic Assessment: Utilise specialist assessment frameworks (such as the Engagement Model or customised small-step trackers) to accurately monitor, record, and celebrate pupil progress.
  • Multidisciplinary Liaison: Collaborate regularly with onsite and visiting professionals, including Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Educational Psychologists.
  • Parental Partnerships: Maintain sensitive, transparent, and encouraging communication with parents and carers, establishing a consistent network of support.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A proven track record of teaching within a specialist SEN school, alternative provision, or specialised unit.
  • Specialist Subject Knowledge: A deep understanding of adaptive teaching pedagogy, positive behaviour support (PBS) strategies, and the complexities associated with neurodiversity.
  • Emotional Resilience: A calm, grounded, and patient demeanour, with the ability to lead a classroom confidently during periods of pupil dysregulation or high anxiety.
  • Collaborative Spirit: A genuine desire to work as part of a highly unified, multidisciplinary team that puts the holistic wellbeing of the child first.
  • Compliance: An enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
