Temporary Design & Technology Teacher | Key Stage 3 & 4 Maternity Cover - Full Time

Are you a highly motivated and qualified Design & Technology (DT) Teacher seeking a rewarding, fixed-term opportunity? We are looking for an exceptional practitioner to join our successful and forward-thinking secondary school. This full-time, temporary post is ideal for a dedicated professional ready to take ownership of their own workshops and classrooms, contributing fully to departmental success within Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).

The Role

The core focus of this position is to plan, deliver, and assess high-quality, engaging lessons across various DT disciplines (such as Product Design, Timber, and Polymers). You will be responsible for a full timetable of classes, ensuring exceptional progress and positive outcomes for all students aged 11-16. You will be expected to maintain a safe, inspiring practical environment and use formative and summative assessment strategies to effectively guide student learning.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic educator who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Design & Technology (or a closely related field).
  • Possesses recent, demonstrable experience teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).
  • Exhibits excellent classroom management and a high regard for Health & Safety standards within a workshop setting.
  • Is passionate about innovation, CAD/CAM, and practical problem-solving.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the National Curriculum and GCSE exam board requirements.
  • Is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.

Key Responsibilities

You will take full responsibility for the learning and achievement of all pupils in your classes, including planning, preparation, and detailed marking. Other duties include:

  • Ensuring the safe use of tools and machinery by all students.
  • Contributing to the development of schemes of work and creative projects.
  • Assessing student progress and providing timely feedback to drive attainment.
  • Undertaking a form tutor role and supporting the pastoral needs of students.
  • Actively participating in whole-school life and departmental training.
