Are you looking for flexible classroom work across Torbay that fits your schedule while making a real impact? We are seeking adaptable, compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to provide day-to-day supply cover and 1:1 support across mainstream primary schools in Torbay and the surrounding local areas (including Paignton, Torquay, and Brixham).
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide flexible, 1:1 or small-group support to primary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH).
- Adapt classroom activities on the fly to match individual learning styles and capabilities.
- Use practical strategies, such as visual schedules and sensory tools, to support emotional regulation and keep pupils engaged.
- Help build pupils' confidence, social communication skills, and independence in the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCos, and school staff to maintain a consistent environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Prior experience working with primary-aged children with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs).
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to managing behaviour and supporting learning.
- Strong communication skills to liaise quickly with local staff.
