This specialist community school is currently seeking a teaching assistant/SEN Trainee Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis ASAP. This role is needed due to a current member of the support team relocating. This inspiring school is a specialist independent provision that supports 90 pupils with Autism and associated needs. The school supports pupils from all walks of life from the age of 4-19 years. It is both a primary and secondary provision.

The school offers an inclusive, safe and inviting environment where every child can achieve, succeed and break down any boundaries that they might have encountered in mainstream education. This school benefits from a long-standing senior leadership team with a clear vision for the future. In addition, the school has been recently refurbished and now offers free-flowing, bright and inviting learning environments, classrooms, therapy and sensory rooms.

In this role as Teaching Assistant/Trainee Teacher, your role will be to provide high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and sensory experiences through the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum to small groups or on a 1:1 basis. This is a training role. You will start as a 1:1 TA and over 1-2 years will be given the training and qualifications to become a member of the teaching team. This role is needed Monday - Friday 08:45-4:45pm.

Requirements:
  • Creative, friendly and resilient individual who is committed to supporting learners with SEN
  • Experience working or volunteering with children or young adults (desirable)
  • GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
