We are a leading education recruitment agency working on behalf of a fantastic primary school in Stevenage to recruit a dedicated Year 2 Teacher. This is a full-time, 5-days-a-week position covering a maternity leave, starting in September 2026 and running until July 2027. Key Responsibilities

  • Full teaching responsibilities for a Year 2 class, including planning, delivering, and marking engaging lessons aligned with the National Curriculum.
  • Track pupil progress and utilize assessments effectively to ensure all children reach their full potential.
  • Create a positive, nurturing, and structured classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the parallel Year 2 class teacher for shared PPA and planning.
  • Maintain strong, professional partnerships with parents, support staff, and leadership.

What the School / Agency Are Looking For

  • We are looking for an educator who brings energy, warmth, and high standards to the classroom. Both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are highly encouraged to apply!
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory.
  • Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (Year 2 experience and knowledge of end-of-key-stage expectations is highly desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of Phonics screening and early reading strategies.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills rooted in positive reinforcement.
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
