We are looking for a dedicated Qualified Primary English Teacher (QTS) to join our partner Primary School in Stevenage for a long-term or permanent placement starting in September 2026.

Your Responsibilities

  • Inspirational English Delivery: Plan, prepare, and execute high-quality literacy and English lessons that align with the National Curriculum, ensuring accessibility for lower-ability pupils and stretch opportunities for higher-attainers.
  • Early Reading & Phonics Mastery: Lead or support systematic synthetic phonics programs (such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.) to build foundational literacy skills in early years and KS1.
  • Creative Writing & Oracy: Design engaging modules focused on poetry, structured storytelling, and grammar, while cultivating classroom debates and presentation opportunities to enhance student oracy.
  • Progress Assessment & Tracking: Implement robust assessment frameworks to accurately monitor reading ages, writing stamina, and comprehension skills, utilising data to inform targeted catch-up strategies.
  • Inclusive Classroom Leadership: Manage and deploy classroom Teaching Assistants effectively to support pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Special Educational Needs (SEND).

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a strong primary English specialisation are welcome to apply.
  • Primary Curriculum Expertise: A deep, up-to-date knowledge of the primary English curriculum, spelling, punctuation, and grammar (SPAG) frameworks, and effective reading strategies.
