Teaching Assistant Opportunity – Make a Real Difference Every Day

Salary: Up to £27,981 FTE (36 hours, 52 weeks), dependent on qualifications and experience

Location: Surrey, Cranleigh

About the Role

We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individuals to join our expanding education team as Teaching Assistants. You will support students aged 5-19 with severe social communication needs, complex learning disabilities, and, at times, challenging behaviours. Your work will directly help them develop independence, life skills, and confidence for life beyond education.

What You\’ll Do

  • Support small classes (5-11 students), grouped by ability and social needs
  • Assist with core subjects such as literacy, numeracy, and science
  • Help deliver life skills activities like cookery and gardening
  • Support communication using Makaton, symbols, and assistive technologies
  • Provide emotional and behavioural support during challenging moments
  • Work collaboratively within a skilled and supportive team
  • Provide personal care where required (full training provided)

Training & Development

  • Fully funded Teaching Assistant apprenticeship (CPD-accredited)
  • Twice-weekly training combining theory and practical learning
  • Team Teach Positive Behaviour Support training before starting
  • Ongoing mentoring and refresher training

What We\’re Looking For

No prior experience is required – just the right attitude and values:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Willingness to provide personal care when needed

Working Hours

  • Monday: 8:30 – 16:00
  • Tuesday – Thursday: 8:30 – 16:15
  • Friday: 8:30 – 15:45
  • Includes 30 minutes weekly admin time

Part-time options (minimum 3 days/week) may be considered.

Salary & Career Progression

  • Teaching Assistant: £20,224 – £21,032 (rising to £21,851 – £23,999)
  • Senior Teaching Assistant (after 2 years + qualification): up to £27,981 FTE
  • HLTA Opportunities:
    • Unqualified: £27,981 FTE
    • Qualified: £32,313 FTE
