Supply SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH Specialist)

Pay: £90 - £95 per day

Location: West Sussex (Specialist Schools & SEMH Provisions)

Position: Temporary / Flexible Supply

Do you have the resilience and empathy to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Randstad is seeking dedicated and flexible Supply SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team in West Sussex. You will work within specialist settings, supporting pupils with complex needs to access their education and thrive both academically and socially.

The Role

As an SEMH Specialist on a supply basis, you will provide vital cover across various classes and age groups. Your goal is to provide stability and support in environments where emotional regulation is key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emotional Regulation: Implementing strategies and interventions designed to manage challenging behaviour and promote positive mental health.
  • Tailored Support: Assisting the class teacher in delivering learning activities adapted to the specific needs of each pupil.
  • De-escalation: Maintaining a calm, safe, and engaging environment using professional de-escalation techniques.
  • Social Development: Supporting pupils' communication skills and helping them build positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Working alongside teachers, therapists, and support staff to follow individual education and behaviour plans.
