Job Title: Learning Support Worker

Location: Bromley

Working Pattern: Term Time Only

Salary: Β£27,875 - Β£28,701

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a progressive Further Education institution to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant. In this impactful role, you will work alongside teaching staff to empower young people and adults with special educational needs (SEN), breaking down barriers to learning and guiding students toward achieving the goals set out in their Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).

The Approach / Pedagogy

The college operates on a person-centred framework. Support strategies are customized around the individual needs and learning objectives of each student, encouraging self-advocacy, personal confidence, and independent study skills.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction of support managers and curriculum teams.
  • Support students with their personal care, safety, well-being, and physical mobility requirements.
  • Encourage the growth of independent learning skills and self-advocacy.
  • Ensure specialist assistive technologies and equipment are prepared and operational for student use.
  • Help evaluate student progress and contribute to the updates of person-centred support plans.
  • Proactively identify barriers to learning and apply intervention strategies to resolve difficulties.
  • Liaise with parents, key workers, and external support agencies as required.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualifications: A good standard of general education, with Level 2 Maths and English (or a willingness to complete them).
  • Characteristics: Enthusiastic, personable, and adaptable; comfortable and willing to provide personal care and mobility assistance; strong communication skills (Makaton, BSL, or Sign-a-Long abilities are desirable).
  • Transport / Commute: Ability to commute to the Bromley campus on a term-time schedule.
