Responsibilities
- Instruction & Development: Deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group lessons, adapting your approach to meet individual needs across all subjects. You will organise educational trips, track student progress, and report feedback to the lead teacher.
- Student Care & Safety: Promote independence and dignity while assisting with daily routines and personal care. You will be trained in Epilepsy First Aid and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to maintain a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Work effectively within an interdisciplinary team of therapists, nurses, and support staff. You will mentor junior colleagues, set high professional standards, and maintain clear, consistent communication with parents regarding student development.
You Must Have
- Literacy and numeracy Level 2 (or equivalent).
- A willingness to work towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification.
- Experience of working in a classroom, working with young people with complex disabilities and challenging behaviour or previous experience in a support worker/teaching assistant role.
- Be able to provide consistent and unwavering care and support to a group of students, taking a lead in running activities and leading a small team.
- Have a proven experience of promoting learning and aiding students' development while assessing and recording their progress.
- The ability to assist the teacher in delivering the curriculum and communicating well both in writing and verbally.
- A continued sensitivity to others' needs, flexibility in the face of change and challenges, and integrity to maintaining the highest standards and respect.
- Eligibility to work in the UK. The candidate will be required to undertake a full enhanced DBS check.
Ideally You Will Have
- A qualification in Special Educational Needs.
- Previous experience in a learning support role.
- Leadership skills, an interest in sport/music/art or dance.
- Knowledge of complex conditions such as: autism, epilepsy, profound multiple learning disabilities.
- In-depth understanding of vocational/employability skills and challenging behaviour.
