Role Details

  • Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

  • Salary: Β£33,075 – Β£47,031 (M1 – UPS1 Fringe)

  • Hours: 40 hours per week

  • Start Date: As soon as possible (interviews will be held in September due to summer holidays)

Key Responsibilities

As our SENDCo, you will be instrumental in:

  • Leading the strategic development and implementation of SEND policy and provision, providing expert advice to the Head of School.

  • Ensuring the school meets all statutory responsibilities in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and defined SEND assessments.

  • Coordinating and deploying school provision, including staff (therapists), resources, and intervention strategies for integrated SEN support.

  • Overseeing high-quality Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG), developing a comprehensive framework to support pupils\’ pathways to adulthood.

  • Leading Year 9 transition reviews, capturing student voice and aligning outcomes with Pathways for Adulthood.

  • Implementing successful Post-16 transition plans, liaising with colleges for school link courses, visits, and specific pupil needs.

  • Identifying and enabling access arrangements for examinations and other accreditation\’s (including Deputy Exam Officer duties).

  • Promoting best practice through in-service training (INSET) and continuing professional development (CPD) for new teachers, contributing to the school\’s overall ethos.

  • Collaborating with the Head of School to ensure a high-quality, engaging, differentiated, and well-resourced curriculum.

  • Communicating effectively with parents/carers, staff, external agencies, and local authorities regarding pupil progress and intervention effectiveness.

  • Preparing information and conducting annual statutory reviews and specific case conferences.

  • Developing positive relationships within the school, with other Surrey schools, and the wider team to support ongoing school development.

What We\’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) is essential.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Accredited training in specific areas of special education (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia).

  • A Management/leadership qualification.

  • NPQSL/H/SENDCo or a willingness to achieve one within two years.

Essential Experience:

  • A proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching within relevant key stages and/or a special needs environment.

  • Experience in holding responsibility for and successfully implementing policy into effective and successful practice.

  • Leadership of a significant area, phase, or inclusion, with responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.

  • Effective team management and a history of working collaboratively and effectively with others.

  • Communicating effectively to a wide range of different audiences through various mediums.

  • Successful management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with a range of external agencies.
