An exciting opportunity is available for a proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Stowmarket. We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to provide tailored support to students with a range of complex needs. This is a chance to make a profound and lasting impact on young lives by helping them access the curriculum and develop vital life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them engage with learning activities tailored to their individual needs.
  • Support the Class Teacher in implementing differentiated lesson plans and preparing specialised learning resources.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on student progress against their individual learning goals and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Foster a stimulating and supportive classroom environment that encourages independence, creativity, and a love for learning.
  • Collaborate effectively with a team of Teachers, Therapists, and fellow Support Staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student development.
  • Assist with the emotional and social well-being of students, using positive reinforcement and inclusive practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (or a strong desire to work) with students with a range of special educational needs (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, complex learning difficulties, or SEMH).
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting young learners.
  • The ability to follow and implement guidance from EHCPs and individual learning plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent team-working skills with a proactive and \”can-do\” attitude.
  • A Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
