A rare and rewarding opportunity has opened for a Qualified SEN Teacher to join our partner specialist SEN School in Meldreth. This setting is renowned for its work with children and young people who have profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, and complex sensory needs. We are looking for an inspirational teacher who is skilled in sensory-based learning and highly adaptive in their instructional approach. Please note: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sensory Curriculum: Design and lead a highly bespoke, sensory-rich curriculum that prioritises communication, physical development, and cognitive exploration.
  • Integrated Practice: Work at the heart of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating daily with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and SLTs to embed therapy goals into the educational day.
  • EHCP Management: Take ownership of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring that every small-step milestone is accurately tracked and celebrated.
  • Adaptive Technology: Utilise and lead the use of assistive technologies and augmentative communication aids (AAC) to ensure all students have a voice in your classroom.
  • Classroom Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of specialist support staff, fostering a culture of high expectations and compassionate care.
  • Family Partnership: Act as a key point of contact for families, providing professional guidance and regular updates on their child\\\’s holistic progress.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is essential.
  • Proven experience teaching students with complex needs, PMLD, or physical disabilities.
  • A deep understanding of sensory-based teaching methodologies and the P-Scales or similar small-step assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a large, busy team of support staff.
  • A resilient, compassionate, and solution-focused approach to teaching.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and the promotion of dignity for all students with complex medical or physical needs.
  • An enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
