Key Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in a specialist setting, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:

Delivering individualised support plans, including therapeutic activities and communication strategies, to meet each pupil\’s unique needs.

Providing assistance with personal care, mobility, and feeding, always maintaining a child\’s dignity and comfort.
-
Confidently and calmly managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours using specialist techniques in line with a pupil\’s plan.
-
Using non-verbal communication methods, such as PECS or Makaton, to build rapport and aid pupil expression.

Working seamlessly with the class teacher, therapists, and a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you must possess:

Demonstrable experience working with children with profound, complex, and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) in a specialist setting.

An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).

The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
-
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Team-Ex, Makaton, PECS, or similar techniques is highly desirable.

A calm, exceptionally patient, and resilient approach.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils and a commitment to their well-being.
