We are seeking an exceptional Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school team in Cranleigh. This is a highly rewarding role within the school\’s Inclusion department, focusing on students aged 11-16 with complex learning and emotional needs.
This is a long-term to permanent position, offering you the stability of a consistent role with the opportunity to transition into a permanent contract.
The Role: Specialist Student Support
Reporting to the SENCo, you will be a key advocate for students with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
- Tailored Support: Implement EHCPs and adapt curriculum resources to meet individual student targets.
- In-Class Intervention: Provide high-quality 1-to-1 or small-group support to foster academic and social growth.
- Independence & Wellbeing: Help students build the confidence and \”life-ready\” skills they need for adulthood.
- Behaviour Management: Use proactive de-escalation strategies to maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment.
What We Are Looking For
- Essential: Proven experience working within a school setting.
- Desirable: Prior experience supporting pupils with specific and complex SEN.
- Attributes: Exceptional patience, resilience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Commitment: Available for an immediate start and able to work 5 days a week during term time.
